From beginners to seasoned athletes, our annual running and cycling training programs will help you take on a variety of endurance challenges. Our team has multiple coaches who create the training schedules and map out weekly training routes to make sure you are confident and ready for race day. Keep in mind, you don’t need to attend the training runs or rides to be a part of the team, but we’d love for you to be there! You can still be a part of the team and communicate with our coaches if it’s tough for you to make it to the training sessions.
TRAINING UPDATES FOR 2020
This year is anything but normal and with that, we want to make sure that your training and fitness goals don’t fall to the wayside.
At this point, Huntsman Hero running and cycling in-person training will be cancelled until at least May 1st. We will reevaluate the safety and conditions at that time. But, that doesn’t mean training needs to completely stop. Coach Elfi (running) and Coach Solomon (cycling) are continuing to provide guidance to Huntsman Heroes. Visit our training page to read their weekly training updates and stay in touch. You can also find links there to join our Facebook groups, if you haven’t already.
The Coaching staff is happy to help you with your individual training needs. We are here to get you ready for your planned race.
Once you decide what is best for you to either move to another event further in the season (Utah Valley, Timp Half or Ogden’s new date in September), run your event virtually, or defer to 2021, the coaching team will plan to help you get those long training runs in this year.
For those who choose to do a later race, we’ll be doing a Saturday training for the Full: 16-, 18- & 20-mile and for the Half: 8-,10- & 12-mile for those doing Utah Valley (June), Timp Half (August) or Ogden (September). Coach Elfi suggests that you plan on an 8 mile (Full) and 5 mile (Half) every three weeks to keep your mileage up. The Coaching staff is happy to help you with your individual training needs. You can reach out to Coach Elfi at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are here to get you ready for your planned race.
Right now all partnering cycling events are still a go (this includes the Huntsman SportsFest!), so here are some tools to help you stay on track:
On a snow day, this is a great way to get your miles in and be social! Many on the Huntsman team use Zwift. Check out planned rides are on our the Huntsman Cycling page or organize your own and invite your friends to join you!
Get out and Enjoy!
We’ve had some beautiful spring riding days. Get out and enjoy them when you can! Check out the suggested routes that Coach Solomon put together for different parts of the valley.
